Cuanto viento es necesario para volar un parapente

How much wind is necessary for paragliding?

The amount of wind required for paragliding can vary depending on the pilot’s experience and the specific paraglider design. In general, paragliders require light and controllable winds to launch and fly safely. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Take-off: For take-off, a light and steady wind is preferred, generally in the range of 5 to 15 kilometres per hour. Too much wind can make the take-off more difficult to control, while too little wind can make it difficult to inflate and launch the glider.
  • Flight: During flight, paragliders tend to operate best in moderate winds, generally between 20 and 40 kilometres per hour. Wind speeds above this range can make flying more challenging and less predictable.
  • Landing: For landing, a light wind is preferred. Stronger winds can make landing faster and more demanding.

It is important to note that the experience and skill of the pilot also play a crucial role. Novice pilots tend to prefer lighter wind conditions, while experienced pilots can handle a variety of conditions. In addition, paragliding training includes specific instruction on how to deal with different wind conditions to ensure safety and control during the flight.
